David Daly
David Daly is Principal Double Bass with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has toured the UK, Europe, America and Asia. He has made over 150 CD recordings with the BSO, including several ‘Gramophone’ and ‘Grammy’ award winners and a New York Times ’CD of the Year’. He has played a guest principal bass with many British and Irish orchestras, such as the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the BBC Philharmonic and the NSOI.
David has performed Bottesini’s concerto and the Duo Concertant with the BSO. Having played many solo recitals, in 2017, he released a solo CD called ‘Titanic Double Bass’, which has as its title track a beautiful air his Great Uncle played aboard the Titanic as it departed Ireland.
David is a visiting professor of Double Bass at Southampton University and the London College of Music, and he coaches at the Crescendo Summer Institute.
