Grieg’s Solveig’s Song is a favourite amongst many singers, and for good reason. Written for Grieg’s incidental music for Henrik Ibsen’s 1867 play Peer Gynt, Solveig’s song is clearly influenced by folk music, and the text in the original version is written from Solveig’s perspective, singing about her love for the play’s protagonist, Peer, and how she will wait all eternity for him. This new adaptation for double bass and piano by Jean-Baptiste Salles maintains all the emotion of the original, and sits beautifully on the instrument. This version is for intermediate players, and is in a low register. A high version is also available.
Double Bass music purchased from String Virtuoso Shop comes with both a clean part and a part with bowings and fingerings from the editor.
