Gabriel Fauré’s Après un Rêve is amongst the French composer’s most popular works. Written in the 1870s and published as part of a collection in 1878, this song tells the story of a dream of a romantic flight with a lover, away from the earth and towards the light, before the dreamer awakens and longs for the alternative reality of the dream. Interestingly, the poem is by an anonymous author and was originally written in Italian, but adapted to French by Romain Bussine. This transcription of the song for double bass and piano by Lorraine Campet comes in two different versions: a high version in the upper register of the instrument (ADVANCED difficulty) and a lower version in the mid-register (INTERMEDIATE difficulty).
Double Bass music purchased from String Virtuoso Shop comes with both a clean part and a part with bowings and fingerings from the editor.
