The Variations on 'La Straniera' by Giovanni Bottesini, composed in 1837 while he was a student at the Milan Conservatory, reflect the virtuosity and ambition of the young composer. First performed in 1838, the piece gained prominence in his early career but was later eclipsed by more popular works like the Variations on the Carnival of Venice.
This edition restores the piece to its original form, based on meticulous research of surviving sources, including both the solo part and piano accompaniment.
Double Bass music purchased from String Virtuoso Shop comes with both a clean part and a part with bowings and fingerings from the editor.
