Takanari Koyama

Takanari Koyama

Born in 1988 in Japan, Takanari Koyama began his studies in Aichi with Hideki Hoshi and later studied in Vienna, Fiesole, and at Accademia Stauffer with teachers including Josef Niederhammer, Werner Fleischmann, and Alberto Bocini. He participated in the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra academy, played with the Vienna Symphony, and took masterclasses with Jurek Dybał, Rinat Ibragimov, and others.

Since 2013, he has been Principal Bass of the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and has collaborated with ensembles including Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has won awards such as the Vienna Music Academy Competition (2013) and the Wroclaw International Double Bass Competition (2014).

Koyama is a founding member of TRIO KOYAMA with violinist Marine Koyama and violist Igor Tulchynsky, and he has taught at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2017.
