Giuseppe Ettorre
First double bass soloist at the Orchestra of La Scala Philharmonic, Giuseppe Ettorre is an active soloist and chamber musician. He studied with Leonello Godoli and Franco Petracchi, and was winner of the Bottesini competition in Parma in 1989 and the ARD competition in Bavaria in 1991. He has recorded works by Bach, Rossini, Bottesini, Berio, Henze and Piazzolla on two solo albums for the label NBB Records.
Giuseppe shows interest in a variety of music from jazz to new age, and has worked with a range of artists including Bobby McFerrin and Stefano Bollani. The CD Sextet (Decam-Tdd/Edel) contains sixteen of his own compositions featuring the double bass, ranging from solo double bass to an unusual ensemble of three double basses, harp, piano and percussion. Within the field of education he has given masterclasses in Italy and abroad, and since summer 2016 he has taught at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena.
