Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
1840-1893
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was the first Russian composer to achieve a lasting reputation internationally. Although a musical prodigy, he first trained as a civil servant before the opening of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1865. His unique musical style sought to combine both Western and Eastern influences.
