Michael Bochmann

Michael Bochmann has been a well known figure in British music for decades, performing across the USA, India, and Europe. He won the British Prize at the 1972 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition and was a prizewinner in the Jacques Thibaud Competition a year later. At 19, he made his debut solo broadcasts for the BBC.

In February 1990, he toured the USA and Canada with Sir Yehudi Menuhin, performing the Bach Double Violin Concerto. Bochmann has been a soloist at many esteemed venues in the UK, including the Royal Festival Hall and St. James’s Palace, as well as cathedrals and concert halls across the country.

He founded the Bochmann Quartet in 1977 and established the Orchestra Pro Anima in 2017. In recognition of his services to music, he received an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2015.
