Gioacchino Rossini

Gioachino Rossini

1792-1868

Gioachino Rossini was an Italian composer primarily known for his 39 operas, many of which have remained favourites to this day. Rossini grew up in Bologna but spent a large portion of his life in Paris, where he was contracted to the Paris Opera. Despite his early career successes, Rossini produced very little music during the last 40 years of his life, composing mainly small salon pieces.
