Camille Saint-Saëns
1835-1921
Camille Saint-Saëns is one of the best-known French composers of the romantic era. A musical prodigy, giving his first concert at the age of 10, Saint-Saëns studied at the Paris Conservatoire before embarking on a career as an organist, later becoming a freelance composer and pianist. He only had a few students, notably Gabriel Fauré.
