Béla Bartók is one of the most important composers of the 20th century. Many elements of his musical style derive from the juxtaposition of modernist harmony with the folk music of his native Hungary, which he studied throughout his lifetime. He wrote a highly varied range of music, from big orchestral works to delicate chamber music.
