Antonio Capuzzi
1755-1818
Antonio Capuzzi was an Italian violinist and composer of the early classical era. He studied in Venice under A. Nazari (violin) and F. Bertoni (composition), before becoming concertmaster with the orchestra at the Teatro di S. Samuele in 1780 and eventually orchestral director at the Testro di S. Benedetto. Much of his music remains unknown today, though his concerto for double bass is a staple of the repertoire, particularly for students.
