Romance No. 2

Despite being widely known as a concert pianist, Ludwig van Beethoven was a string player throughout his life, learning violin from a young age and playing viola in orchestras in his hometown of Bonn. It is fitting then, that his works for solo instrument and orchestra revolved primarily around the piano but included a small number of pieces featuring solo violin. The Romance op. 50 is the second of two romances for violin and orchestra, and was completed in 1798 but not published until 1805. It is arranged here for double bass and piano by Timothy Cobb, with piano accompaniments available in orchestral and solo tuning.
