Difficulty: Virtuoso

Camille Saint-Saëns’ Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso was originally intended as a finale movement to a violin concerto, though after its success as a standalone piece at its premiere in 1867, the composer decided to publish it independently. This work is full of flourishes and virtuosity, and shows off Saint-Saëns indisputable skill at writing a rondo theme. This adaptation of the work for double bass and piano by Petru Iuga maintains as much as possible of the original, and makes for an impressive showpiece.
